A cherished tea, named for the mother of the founder of the Kanchanjangha Tea Estate, who planted the first tea bush in 1984 when the vast estate was only a simple backyard. There are several distinct modifications from the standard Black Tea processing method that makes Kumari Gold a unique, one of a kind treat. Prized for its golden tips, and harvested in the Summer, during a second flush, only one, or two tea leaves and a terminal bud are harvested with care, giving this Black Tea a caramel and honey essence with notes of baked fruits in an earthy, long-lasting finish.
The Brew Ha-Ha:
Black Tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis bush that are harvested from the Spring, Summer, and Fall that are allowed to undergo an oxidization process. This causes the tea leaves to ripen to a dark brown or black color. The more oxidization the tea leaves are exposed to determines the flavor of the Black Tea, which can run a pretty wide gamut from mild and sweet to smoky, malty, earthen, and dense and stronger. It is a full-bodied tea that contains a lot of antioxidants and promotes heart health, has anti-cancer agents, fights inflammation, and works as a digestive aid.
